The Fourth "Paolucci Symposium"
Sponsored by the College of Human Ecology,
April 3-6, 2002 Michigan State University
Michigan State University's Paolucci Symposium was founded to celebrate transdisciplinary thinking that would unite scholars and practitioners in the challenge of creating harmonious relationships between and among human activities, natural systems, and dynamic and rapidly changing world realities. The upcoming 2002 conference will be the Fourth Paolucci Symposium. Some of the issues for discussion at the 2002 conference include: · Consumer patterns and resource demands · Implications and changing landscape of corporate practice · Technology and ethics · "Green" movements and alternatives · Local, national and global cooperation · Respecting the "commons" Generally the conference consists of paper presentations, panel discussions, open forums, interactions with keynote speakers, poster sessions and exhibits, round-table discussions or working groups and occasional epilogues or summaries. Please offer your suggestions for elements that would make the conference valuable to you. If you would like to attend, lead a session, present a paper, organize a discussion or contribute to the planning, let us hear from you as soon as possible. Specific themes and programming elements are evolving, but your input would help shape the conference to maximize current and future applications.
About East Lansing: The 2002 Conference will be held on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing, Michigan, approximately 2 hours from Detroit and within 15 minutes of the Lansing Capital Area Airport. East Lansing is adjacent to Lansing, the capital of the state of Michigan. The 5,200 acre campus is a park-like environment with tree-lined walks, flowering gardens and arboretums, the winding Red Cedar river and a variety of classroom buildings, research labs, residence halls and athletic facilities. Michigan State University is home to 14 colleges and serves the educational, social and recreational needs of more than 40,000 students. Spring is the best time to visit East Lansing-a time of awakening beauty. Along with conference activities, a number of theatric and cultural pursuits will be made available and participants will be encouraged to explore the area as excellent public transportation exists. The central location of East Lansing provides opportunities for a variety of add-on travel adventures to Lake Michigan, The Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, a variety of Indian "gaming" facilities or even Chicago. So plan to come and explore central Michigan! _________________________ For more information, please contact: Elaine Williams, Sr. Specialist phone: 517-353-7799 Robert Griffore and Julia Miller, Co-chairs Paolucci Planning Committee http://www.he.msu.edu/paolucci.html
